Don’t open another picture on your iPhone until you apply the latest update to the device.

  • From the security notice accompanying  the 10.1 update – “Impact: Viewing a maliciously crafted JPEG file may lead to arbitrary code execution”    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207271
  • Plain English – Potentially, any image you view on your phone through: Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Linked-IN, etc… could allow a hacker to gain control of your phone.

Apple says that any iPhone 5 or later,  4th generation or later iPad and 6th generation or later iPod Touch are vulnerable. The company hasn’t said which iOS versions are impacted so it is best to check for and apply  updates for all your iOS devices.
