We move on to Day 6…Don’t Save Your Credit Card Info Online!
“Would you like to store this card information online for future use?” With the constant growth of online shopping, most of us have seen this message. And the option to save payment information is a no-brainer for online merchants. Saving your information makes it easier for you to shop and spend money. But what about for the consumer? If you are a “Yes” clicker, you know that every time that message appears, there’s a tiny voice inside your head that says ‘Is this a good idea?’.
Aside from the $$$ you’ll save from impulse shopping (so easy to click and purchase!), opting to not save your credit card info on your web browser will save you from potential theft. Autofill makes your card information vulnerable to several hacking techniques. In addition, keeping credit card information saved in your web browser is a safety concern. If your laptop is stolen, or your desktop accessed by someone else, your credit or debit cards can be hacked or drained.
