It’s October, Let’s Get Secure and Celebrate!
Not Halloween, Fall Foliage and everything Pumpkin Spice – at BMT, October is our favorite time of the year for another reason, it’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM)! As a company dedicated to protecting others from everyday threats, we understand the importance of education and having access to the resources needed to stay safe and secure online.
Protect Yourself, Family and Organization
To commemorate, we’ve compiled a few free security tools you can use to improve your security posture. We encourage you to check out at least one (if not all) and add them to your NCSAM initiatives. As cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility, it’s important to do your part in keeping yourself, workplace and community safe online.
Has Your Email or Password Been Compromised?
One of our favorite websites, haveibeenpwned.com, offers a free searchable tool that allows users to see if information has been compromised in a data breach. You can search via email address or password. The site also offers the option to sign up and be notified if your account happens to be compromised in the future (also free).
Company Email Exposure Check
Are you aware that many of the email addresses within your organization are exposed on the Internet and easy to find for cybercriminals? With these addresses criminals can launch social engineering, spear phishing and ransomware attacks on your organization. To prevent these attacks, KnowBe4 offers a free Email Exposure Check that offers a summary report PDF that includes number of exposed emails, identities and risk levels found.
Cybersecurity Awareness Training
When it comes to keeping company information safe and networks secure, education is the best line of defense. BMT offers a complimentary one-month Cybersecurity Awareness Training program that educates employees on their role in the company security plan. Features include: Baseline testing, On-demand training consisting of interactive presentations, Simulated attacks to reinforce training, and Detailed reporting to measure success.
