BMT recently added Email Link Protection services to our portfolio, through our partnership with Appriver,  a Zix company. The service is being provided for FREE to our IT Essentials Managed Service Clients as our aim is to always keep our valued clients safe. Appriver’s email threat protection services use highly accurate, multi-layering filtering to automatically block 99% of unwanted and malicious emails. Customers are better protected from all zero-hour malware, ransomware, phishing, Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks, and of course, unwanted spam.

How Does It Work?
One of the primary features  is Link Protection. Anytime you click on a link within an email, Zix examines the destination for suspicious behavior or known malicious content. Based on testing, the user is either automatically redirected to the site, or is provided a warning with details of the tests performed.  View a PDF of the Zix Link Protection tutorial here.

Step 1:  Click on a link with an email. Zix examines the link and while under review, the following pop up image shows.

Step 2:
  • If the link does not match any filters, once analysis completes, the user is automatically connected to the destination.
  • If the link is deemed suspicious the user is warned and provided a threat meter and an analysis report with additional technical details. Users have the option to proceed to the link.
  • If the link is found to have harmful or unwanted content, the user is given a warning with technical details. Blocked links do not have an option for the user to proceed.
