Beginning December 1, 2019, small and midsize businesses (SMBs) will be able to purchase Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESUs) if they are not going to be ready to get off Windows 7 as of January 14, 2020, which is the date Microsoft will end free support (and security updates) for the product. SMBs will be able to get the ESUs for up to three years by purchasing them from qualified Cloud Solution Providers (CSP), Microsoft said. BMT is a proud Microsoft CSP.
What Should You Do?
If you are still using Windows 7, we highly recommend beginning migration efforts to Windows 10 now. Although a reprieve has been given, this is an ideal opportunity to begin taking inventory of existing hardware and software assets. Review the current state of your organization and then decide if it would be worthwhile to upgrade to a “budget” or “performance” build. Upgrading simultaneously will improve efficiencies and allow for long-term increased productivity.
Need Help?
Schedule your Windows migration assessment today. Our service team will determine the number of workstations that are in need of upgrade/replacement and assist in the migration process to Windows 10. We can also make suggestions as to what hardware is in need of upgrading.
